NTB, Tw III 2018: The economy contracted

Abstract

The NTB Province's economy in Quarter III-2018 contracted by 13.99 percent. This contraction was caused not only by the mining business sector which was still weak in production, the earthquake that struck the NTB Province last August also had an impact on the economy.

Despite a devastating earthquake, NTB farmers in Quarter III-2018 still experienced a surplus with NTP of 108.90.

Quarter III-2018 inflation was controlled with a value of 0.27 percent, lower than the quarter II-2018 conditions which reached 0.85 percent.

Imports in quarter III-2018 increased compared to the previous quarter, even the value exceeded the value of imports throughout 2017. However, the stretch of exports was able to make the trade balance of NTB return to a surplus.

The flow of air transport passenger arrivals in Quarter III-2018 was recorded at 541,921 people, this condition decreased compared to Quarter II-2018 which reached 571,517 people.

The Room Occupancy Rate (TPK) on average for Quarter III-2018 star hotels has decreased quite sharply compared to Quarter II-2018, which is from 51.04 to 31.52. This decline was also experienced by non-star hotels with a third quarter-2018 TPK which only reached 18.20.

Remittance in Quarter III-2018 reached 267 billion rupiah, this value was lower than quarter II-2018 which reached 354 billion rupiah.

The BI seven days repo rate has climbed to 5.75 percent since September 2018
