In August 2018, West Nusa Tenggara experienced a deflation of 0.10 percent, or a decrease in the Consumer Price Index (CPI) from 132.69 in July 2018 to 132.56 in August 2018. This figure is greater than the national deflation rate recorded at 0.05 percent. For the West Nusa Tenggara region, Mataram City experienced a deflation of 0.07 percent and Bima City experienced a deflation of 0.21 percent. Deflation of West Nusa Tenggara in August 2018 amounted to 0.10 percent due to price reductions as indicated by a decrease in the index of the Transport, Communication & Financial Services Group by 1.79 percent and the Foodstuffs Group by 0.04 percent. While the index increase occurred in the Health Group by 0.42 percent; Processed Food, Beverages, Cigarettes & Tobacco Group of 0.35 percent; Clothing Group by 0.27 percent; Housing, Water, Electricity, Gas & Fuel Group at 0.22 percent and Education, Recreation & Sports Group at 0.01 percent. The inflation rate of West Nusa Tenggara in August 2018 was 2.06 percent, higher than the inflation in August 2017 of 1.60 percent. While the inflation rate "year on year" August 2018 was 3.42 percent, lower than the inflation rate "year on year" in August 2017 at 3.89 percent
